TCCI was established July 2, 1972 by Jackie Kimbrough, a psychology graduate student at UCLA. 

During its 38 year history TCCI has grown:

• From a one room office in Watts to 13 locations throughout South Los Angeles
• From six part-time employees to a staff of 140
• From a single research project on how children learn cooperative behavior to a
•                  comprehensive array of human services programs
• From a $25,000 Planning Grant to an annual services budget of millions
• From a client base of 300 to more than 13,000 children, youth & adults clients
