The Black Infant Health Program (BIH) is designed to reduce the high infant mortality rate among African American babies, as well as reduce the high death rate from pregnancy complications among African American women.

The program uses street level outreach to at-risk and parenting African American women, as well as culturally sensitive case management, support, and empowerment workshops to improve health and birth outcomes for the women and their infants less than one year old.

The program also provides access to prenatal and pediatric care, and encourages breast-feeding and healthy life-styles.
