The Community Coalition for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAP) reduces teen pregnancy and promotes responsible parenting among youth 12-18 years old.

CAP operates as a collaborative community effort.  The Children’s Collective, Inc. is lead agency, coordinating the services of high schools, middle schools, health clinics as well as other youth-serving community agencies.

Through a 10 week intervention presented in local middle schools and high schools, youth learn about reproductive physiology, sexually transmitted diseases, values and personal and social responsibility.

Additionally, teens may be referred to Family PACT clinics for more personalized  health information as well as treatment.

Recognizing the crucial role of families in establishing mores and communicating information and expectations about sexuality, CAP also trains parents on how to talk to their children about sex.  Parent training is part of a larger effort  to promote bonding among parents and their teen age/pre-teen children.

Finally, the program offers parenting instruction and rap groups for teens who are enrolled in school and parenting infants and toddlers.
