WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT PROGRAMS The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) grant focuses on child development services as a means of assisting adults to improve and strengthen their employment skills. One component of this program provides drop-in child care at the WorkSource Career Centers to assist adults who are involved in job search activities. The other component prepares adults for the working world and trains them to qualify for child care careers as teachers, teaching assistants, or child care providers. Child Care Career Training Program Our Mission:to Educate, Train, and Prepare Adults as Child Care Career Professionals. This program provides: * Free assesment and career counseling to determine whether the field of child care is an appropriate fit ![]() Workforce Investment Act Staff Are Ready to Serve You! Drop-In Child Care at the WorkSource Career Centers Drop-in child care is provided at six WorkSource Career Centers in Los Angeles County to facilitate the job search efforts of parents with young children. Child care is available during Career Center hours so that participants can attend Employment Preparation Workshops, interviews with employers, and appointments with their career counselors, case managers, and job developers, without worrying about who is going to care for their children.
